Overview
Get large-scale projects up and running easily, with its compact design this inverter offers the highest power density per device. The advantages: optimal performance at a light weight. The result is cheaper transportation and easier installation. Maximum safety & reliability The PEAK3 inverter focuses on what is most important – maximum yield and optimal plant availability. All features and components are custom-tailored in order to keep the weight down, to minimize potential error sources and to maximize efficiency. Proven technologies such as the active cooling system SMA OptiCool ensure a long lifetime of the inverters. Flexible, easily scalable plant design The PEAK3 system solution combines the advantages of a decentralized system layout with those of the central inverter concept. The DC Combiner Boxes enable efficient planning and easy expansion of large-scale solar plants even on heterogeneous terrain. Thanks to the modular approach, projects can be scaled both in terms of power and function. This means maximum flexibility in the plant design. Fast installation, easy commissioning The PEAK3 system solution offers smart functionalities for quick and safe installation of all devices. Ergonomic grips and the integrated hook-in mechanism simplify the mounting of the inverters. Large, stiff DC cables can be conveniently routed via a separable connection plate and allow hassle-free connection. A single Data Manager enables up to 200 inverters to be commissioned centrally in just a few minutes. Efficient control, convenient monitoring Each device can be controlled directly via reliable, fast Ethernet communication between Data Manager and inverter. The entire plant portfolio can be centrally monitored with the new Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS. Changes to the configuration are easily made across plants without setting up multiple VPN connections. Additional monitoring systems can access all devices via the open Modbus / TCP interface.

How to read this datasheet
SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 is listed with 5 published specifications from SMA, including power rating of 100000W, MPPT trackers of 1, phases of Three phase and weight (kg) of 98. Those figures are what decide whether this unit fits your system, so read them against the equipment it will connect to before comparing price.
For an inverter, the figures that matter most are topology — on-grid, off-grid, hybrid or micro, continuous AC output in kW, which caps the load you can run at once, surge or peak rating, which covers the brief inrush of motors and compressors and maximum PV input and the number of MPPT trackers, which set how many panel strings you can connect. It is the component that decides what a solar system can do: how much power you can draw at once, whether you can export to the grid, whether the system keeps running in a blackout, and how well the panels and battery are managed day to day.
Choosing an inverter: the checks that matter
The checks below apply to any inverter. Run them against the specification table above — most disappointing solar purchases are compatible-on-paper units that fail one of these in practice.
- Keep the panel array between roughly 1.0 and 1.3 times the inverter's rating. Slight oversizing (a higher DC-to-AC ratio) captures more energy on cloudy mornings and winter days; going far beyond it wastes generation through clipping.
- Check the surge rating if you run motors — deep-well pumps, compressors and older air conditioners can draw two to three times their running current for a few seconds at start-up.
- Choose a hybrid inverter if a battery is in your plan now or later; retrofitting storage onto a pure grid-tie inverter usually means buying a second unit or an AC-coupled battery system.
- Confirm the inverter is approved by your local utility or distribution network before you buy if you intend to export power — grid connection depends on certified anti-islanding and local grid-code compliance, not on the inverter's specifications alone.
Where buyers lose money
- Overlooking the IP rating. An outdoor installation needs at least IP65; indoor-rated units mounted outside fail early.
- Buying on peak-watt price alone. A cheap inverter with a narrow MPPT window forces awkward string layouts and can strand a portion of the array.
- Ignoring the ambient temperature rating. Inverters derate in heat, so a unit rated 5 kW at 25 °C may deliver noticeably less on a hot roof-adjacent wall at 45 °C.
Price and availability in United Kingdom
SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 is listed at £ 9,120 (GBP) for United Kingdom. Solar pricing moves with supply, import duties and exchange rates, and distributors set their own margins, so treat this as a comparison reference and confirm the current figure before you order.
SolarBazaar compares equipment rather than selling it. Shortlist here on specification and price, then buy from an authorised distributor or installer in United Kingdom: warranty cover on solar hardware is normally honoured through the channel you bought from, so confirm who supports SMA locally before ordering.
SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 — frequently asked questions
How much does SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 cost?
SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 is listed at £ 9,120 (GBP) for United Kingdom. The figure is indicative — solar prices move with supply, duties and exchange rates, and each distributor sets its own margin — so confirm the current price with a supplier before ordering.
What are the specifications of SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3?
We hold 5 published specifications for this inverter, including power rating 100000W, MPPT trackers 1, phases Three phase, weight (kg) 98 and on grid / off grid On Grid. The full table is on this page, listed under model SHP100-21.
Who makes SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3?
SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 is a SMA product, listed under inverters with model reference SHP100-21. The SMA brand page lists the rest of its range so you can compare across the catalogue.
Is SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 right for my system?
That depends on what it has to connect to. For an inverter, check surge or peak rating, which covers the brief inrush of motors and compressors, maximum PV input and the number of MPPT trackers, which set how many panel strings you can connect and the MPPT voltage window, which decides how many panels go in a string against the rest of your equipment before price enters the decision. Look at the warranty term and what it covers. Five years is the common baseline, ten is offered by stronger brands, and extensions are often cheaper bought with the unit than later.
Where can I buy SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 in United Kingdom?
SolarBazaar lists and compares equipment rather than selling it. Use the specifications and price here to shortlist, then buy through an authorised distributor or installer in United Kingdom — buying in-channel is what keeps the manufacturer's warranty valid.
