SolarBazaar started with a frustration that anyone who has shopped for solar will recognise. The information you need to make a good decision exists — it is just scattered, inconsistent and almost always written by someone with something to sell.

Specifications live in manufacturer PDFs that each use their own labels and test conditions. Savings claims are quoted as headline numbers with the assumptions stripped out. Comparison sites are frequently lead-generation businesses in disguise, ranking whoever pays the most. And nearly everything published assumes a single country's tariffs and incentives, which makes it quietly wrong for most of the world.

So a buyer ends up doing the work themselves: downloading datasheets, building a spreadsheet, cross-checking claims against forum posts, and still not knowing whether the quote in front of them is reasonable. That is a lot to ask of someone making a fifteen-year investment in their own roof.

Solar hardware is global. The economics are not. The same array on the same roof pays back at wildly different rates depending on the electricity tariff it offsets, whether exported energy is credited at retail or wholesale rates, what import duties apply to the equipment, and which subsidies or tax reliefs are open to you.

This is why generic advice fails so often. A guide written around one country's net-metering scheme reads as authoritative and is simply inapplicable to a reader in a market with net billing, a feed-in tariff, or no export compensation at all.

Our editorial principles

A comparison platform is only worth reading if you can trust what it says when the answer is commercially inconvenient. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.

  • Independent of advertisers

    Nobody can buy a better rating, a higher position in a comparison table or the removal of an unflattering specification. Commercial relationships never reach editorial judgement.

  • Claims are sourced

    Performance figures, standards and regulatory details are traced to the manufacturer datasheet, standards body or government scheme they come from, so you can check them yourself.

  • Sponsorship is labelled

    Where content is paid for or commercially placed, it is clearly marked as such on the page. You should never have to guess whether you are reading an advertisement.

  • Corrections are welcomed

    Specifications change and mistakes happen. If something on the platform is wrong, tell us and we will correct it — accuracy matters more to us than being right the first time.
