Overview

The BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS and HVM are modular high voltage lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs for use with an external inverter. Battery-Box Premium HVS One Battery-Box Premium HVS is composed of 2 to 5 HVS battery modules, together with a BCU and Base, that are connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of 5.1 to 12.8 kWh*. Additionally, direct parallel connection of up to 3 identical Battery-Box Premium HVS allows a maximum capacity of 38.4 kWh*. Battery-Box Premium HVM One Battery-Box Premium HVM is composed of 3 to 8 HVM battery modules, together with a BCU and Base, that are connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of 8.3 to 22.1 kWh*. Additionally, direct parallel connection of up to 3 identical Battery-Box Premium HVM allows a maximum capacity of 66.2 kWh*. What these specifications mean

BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM is listed with 3 published specifications from BYD, including temperature of Maximum Charge Current, -10°C ≤ 0°C of 20A and 0°C ≤ 5°C of 25A. Those figures are what decide whether this unit fits your system, so read them against the equipment it will connect to before comparing price.

For a battery, the figures that matter most are cycle life at a stated depth of discharge, commonly 3,000–6,000 cycles for LiFePO4, round-trip efficiency, around 90–95% for lithium and 75–85% for lead-acid, communication protocol (CAN or RS485) for talking to the inverter and nominal capacity in ampere-hours (Ah) or kilowatt-hours (kWh). Storage is what turns a solar array from a daytime bill-reducer into a system that covers evening loads and rides through outages. It is normally the single most expensive component, so sizing it correctly matters more than with any other part.

Before you buy a battery

The checks below apply to any battery. Run them against the specification table above — most disappointing solar purchases are compatible-on-paper units that fail one of these in practice.

  • Match voltage to the inverter, and confirm the battery appears on the inverter maker's supported list. Closed-loop communication lets the inverter respect the battery's real charge limits instead of guessing.
  • Read the warranty in full: lithium warranties are stated as a term plus either a cycle count or a total energy throughput, and whichever limit arrives first ends the cover.
  • Leave room to expand. Packs that parallel cleanly let you add capacity later; ones that do not force a full replacement.
  • Compare usable kilowatt-hours, not nameplate capacity. A 100 Ah lead-acid battery at 12 V is nominally 1.2 kWh but only about 0.6 kWh is safely usable, while a 100 Ah LiFePO4 pack gives you roughly 1.0–1.2 kWh.

Where buyers lose money

  • Installing lithium packs in an unventilated, hot enclosure. Sustained high temperature is the fastest way to lose cycle life.
  • Ignoring the charge current limit and pairing a large array with a small bank, which trips protection and shortens life.
  • Mixing old and new batteries, or different chemistries, in one bank. The weakest unit drags the whole bank down and can be damaged by the others.

Price and availability in United Kingdom

BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM is listed at £ 805 (GBP) for United Kingdom. Solar pricing moves with supply, import duties and exchange rates, and distributors set their own margins, so treat this as a comparison reference and confirm the current figure before you order.

SolarBazaar compares equipment rather than selling it. Shortlist here on specification and price, then buy from an authorised distributor or installer in United Kingdom: warranty cover on solar hardware is normally honoured through the channel you bought from, so confirm who supports BYD locally before ordering.

BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM — frequently asked questions

How much does BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM cost?

BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM is listed at £ 805 (GBP) for United Kingdom. The figure is indicative — solar prices move with supply, duties and exchange rates, and each distributor sets its own margin — so confirm the current price with a supplier before ordering.

What are the specifications of BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM?

We hold 3 published specifications for this battery, including temperature Maximum Charge Current, -10°C ≤ 0°C 20A and 0°C ≤ 5°C 25A. The full table is on this page, listed under model BYD-HVS-MODULE.

Who makes BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM?

BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM is a BYD product, listed under batteries with model reference BYD-HVS-MODULE. The BYD brand page lists the rest of its range so you can compare across the catalogue.

Is BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM right for my system?

That depends on what it has to connect to. For a battery, check continuous charge and discharge current, which limits how much power you can draw from the pack, cycle life at a stated depth of discharge, commonly 3,000–6,000 cycles for LiFePO4 and round-trip efficiency, around 90–95% for lithium and 75–85% for lead-acid against the rest of your equipment before price enters the decision. Compare usable kilowatt-hours, not nameplate capacity. A 100 Ah lead-acid battery at 12 V is nominally 1.2 kWh but only about 0.6 kWh is safely usable, while a 100 Ah LiFePO4 pack gives you roughly 1.0–1.2 kWh.

Where can I buy BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM in United Kingdom?

SolarBazaar lists and compares equipment rather than selling it. Use the specifications and price here to shortlist, then buy through an authorised distributor or installer in United Kingdom — buying in-channel is what keeps the manufacturer's warranty valid.
