Overview

The BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL is a high capacity 48V lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery for use with an external inverter. Thanks to its control and communication port (BMU), the Battery-Box Premium LVL scales to meet the project requirements, no matter how large they may be. Start with Battery-Box Premium LVL15.4 (15.36 kWh) and extend anytime to 983 kWh using parallel interconnection of up to 64 batteries. Scalable from 15.4 to 983 kWh Compatible with 1 and 3 Phase Inverters Cobalt Free Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery: Maximum Safety, Life Cycle, and Power Capable of High-Powered Back-up and Off-Grid Function Space Saving via the Ability to Stack 2 Premium Batteries Add Additional Batteries in Parallel at any time to Expand the System Each system consisting of 1 inverter with up to 64 batteries requires 1 BMU. Temperature derating: Like many lithium batteries temperature affects how fast the battery can charge and discharge. These latest BYD batteries have a very wide operating temperature range and will work at their peak performance ratings most of the time in most installations. Discharging isn't affected much by temperature, charging is affected mostly: below 5 °C charge rate will reduce to 0.3C, below -2 °C 0.05C. Note: Commissioning the battery requires a device capable of running the BYD Be Connect App - available for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Includes: Cat5 cable for communication between BMU and parallel stacks.

Reading the specifications

BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL is listed with 11 published specifications from BYD, including system battery voltage of 48V, nominal storage capacity of 15.36 kWh, connection of M10 and height of 660. Those figures are what decide whether this unit fits your system, so read them against the equipment it will connect to before comparing price.

For a battery, the figures that matter most are system voltage: 12 V, 24 V and 48 V for low-voltage packs, or a high-voltage stack, continuous charge and discharge current, which limits how much power you can draw from the pack, cycle life at a stated depth of discharge, commonly 3,000–6,000 cycles for LiFePO4 and round-trip efficiency, around 90–95% for lithium and 75–85% for lead-acid. Storage is what turns a solar array from a daytime bill-reducer into a system that covers evening loads and rides through outages. It is normally the single most expensive component, so sizing it correctly matters more than with any other part.

Choosing a battery: the checks that matter

The checks below apply to any battery. Run them against the specification table above — most disappointing solar purchases are compatible-on-paper units that fail one of these in practice.

  • Check the continuous discharge rating against your inverter. A battery that stores plenty of energy but can only deliver 50 A cannot support a large inverter at full output.
  • Match voltage to the inverter, and confirm the battery appears on the inverter maker's supported list. Closed-loop communication lets the inverter respect the battery's real charge limits instead of guessing.
  • Read the warranty in full: lithium warranties are stated as a term plus either a cycle count or a total energy throughput, and whichever limit arrives first ends the cover.
  • Leave room to expand. Packs that parallel cleanly let you add capacity later; ones that do not force a full replacement.

What people get wrong

  • Sizing the bank for total daily consumption rather than after-dark consumption, which typically doubles the cost for no benefit.
  • Installing lithium packs in an unventilated, hot enclosure. Sustained high temperature is the fastest way to lose cycle life.
  • Ignoring the charge current limit and pairing a large array with a small bank, which trips protection and shortens life.

Price and availability

BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL is listed at £ 4,622 (GBP). Solar pricing moves with supply, import duties and exchange rates, and distributors set their own margins, so treat this as a comparison reference and confirm the current figure before you order.

SolarBazaar compares equipment rather than selling it. Shortlist here on specification and price, then buy from an authorised distributor or installer in your country: warranty cover on solar hardware is normally honoured through the channel you bought from, so confirm who supports BYD locally before ordering.

BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL — frequently asked questions

How much does BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL cost?

BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL is listed at £ 4,622 (GBP). The figure is indicative — solar prices move with supply, duties and exchange rates, and each distributor sets its own margin — so confirm the current price with a supplier before ordering.

What are the specifications of BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL?

We hold 11 published specifications for this battery, including system battery voltage 48V, nominal storage capacity 15.36 kWh, connection M10, height 660 and width 650. The full table is on this page, listed under model BYD-LVL-MODULE.

Who makes BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL?

BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL is a BYD product, listed under batteries with model reference BYD-LVL-MODULE. The BYD brand page lists the rest of its range so you can compare across the catalogue.

Is BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL right for my system?

That depends on what it has to connect to. For a battery, check nominal capacity in ampere-hours (Ah) or kilowatt-hours (kWh), usable capacity after depth of discharge — LiFePO4 typically allows 80–100%, lead-acid closer to 50% and system voltage: 12 V, 24 V and 48 V for low-voltage packs, or a high-voltage stack against the rest of your equipment before price enters the decision. Leave room to expand. Packs that parallel cleanly let you add capacity later; ones that do not force a full replacement.

Where can I buy BYD Battery-Box Premium LVL?

SolarBazaar lists and compares equipment rather than selling it. Use the specifications and price here to shortlist, then buy through an authorised distributor or installer — buying in-channel is what keeps the manufacturer's warranty valid.
