Heelstone Renewable Energy Acquires 188 MW Cypress Pointe Solar Project in Texas

Heelstone Renewable Energy, a domestic utility-scale renewable energy platform backed by Qualitas Energy, has purchased the Cypress Pointe Solar initiative, an early-stage photovoltaic installation planned for Sabine County, Texas, with an anticipated capacity of roughly 188 MWp.

Situated inside the Southwest Power Pool market, the installation aims to address increasing electricity consumption within the area. The site provides various commercial pathways, such as delivering clean power to utilities, corporate and commercial buyers, hyperscale data centers, and public-sector procurement initiatives.

St. Louis, Missouri-based infrastructure developer Azimuth Renewables advanced the site through its initial and intermediate phases. The location has attained complete site control alongside backing from the local community, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in 2029.

Mike Weich, Chief Executive Officer of Heelstone Renewable Energy, stated that the purchase enhances the firm's growth portfolio and supports its broader objective of scaling up premium renewable assets nationwide. He noted that the organization intends to push the site toward construction while pursuing further purchase and growth opportunities across the country.

Alejandro Ciruelos, U.S. Partner at Qualitas Energy, remarked that the deal bolsters Heelstone's immediate construction schedule while increasing the breadth, diversification, and revenue capacity of its clean energy holdings. He observed that the purchase also aids the company's transition into a comprehensive independent power producer capable of originating, funding, building, and managing renewable sites nationwide.

The transaction follows Heelstone reaching financial close in July 2026 for a trio of solar photovoltaic installations featuring an aggregate capacity of 86 MWp, expanding its operational and development footprint within the American renewable sector.
