Overview
Description:
The Victron MultiPlus Inverter Charger is a powerful true sine wave inverter. It boasts a sophisticated battery charger that features adaptive charge technology as well as a high-speed AC transfer switch, all in one sleek and compact enclosure. Models range from 800VA to 5000VA per module.
The MultiPlus prevents overload of a limited AC source like a generator or a shore power connection. First, battery charging will automatically be reduced when otherwise an overload would occur. The second level will boost the output of a generator or shore side supply with power taken from the battery.

What these specifications mean
Detailed specifications for Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-50/120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger have not been published yet. Victron Energy lists this inverter in the Inverters, and we add fields as the manufacturer releases them — in the meantime, ask your distributor for the datasheet before ordering.
For an inverter, the figures that matter most are peak and weighted (European/CEC) efficiency, typically 96–98.5%, topology — on-grid, off-grid, hybrid or micro, continuous AC output in kW, which caps the load you can run at once and surge or peak rating, which covers the brief inrush of motors and compressors. It is the component that decides what a solar system can do: how much power you can draw at once, whether you can export to the grid, whether the system keeps running in a blackout, and how well the panels and battery are managed day to day.
Choosing an inverter: the checks that matter
The checks below apply to any inverter. Run them against the specification table above — most disappointing solar purchases are compatible-on-paper units that fail one of these in practice.
- Match the battery communication protocol (CAN bus or RS485) between inverter and battery. Compatible voltages are not enough; without a supported protocol the battery management system and inverter cannot agree on charge limits.
- Look at the warranty term and what it covers. Five years is the common baseline, ten is offered by stronger brands, and extensions are often cheaper bought with the unit than later.
- Size the inverter against the loads you need to run simultaneously, not against the total wattage of every appliance in the building — a 5 kW inverter comfortably runs a fridge, fans, lights and a couple of ACs, but not all of them plus a water pump starting at the same time.
- Keep the panel array between roughly 1.0 and 1.3 times the inverter's rating. Slight oversizing (a higher DC-to-AC ratio) captures more energy on cloudy mornings and winter days; going far beyond it wastes generation through clipping.
What people get wrong
- Assuming any grid-tie inverter keeps the lights on during an outage. Standard on-grid units shut down for safety unless they have a dedicated backup or islanding output.
- Overlooking the IP rating. An outdoor installation needs at least IP65; indoor-rated units mounted outside fail early.
- Buying on peak-watt price alone. A cheap inverter with a narrow MPPT window forces awkward string layouts and can strand a portion of the array.
Price and availability in Canada
Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-50/120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger is listed at $ 1,233 (USD) for Canada. Solar pricing moves with supply, import duties and exchange rates, and distributors set their own margins, so treat this as a comparison reference and confirm the current figure before you order.
SolarBazaar compares equipment rather than selling it. Shortlist here on specification and price, then buy from an authorised distributor or installer in Canada: warranty cover on solar hardware is normally honoured through the channel you bought from, so confirm who supports Victron Energy locally before ordering.
Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-50/120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger — frequently asked questions
How much does Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-50/120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger cost?
Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-50/120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger is listed at $ 1,233 (USD) for Canada. The figure is indicative — solar prices move with supply, duties and exchange rates, and each distributor sets its own margin — so confirm the current price with a supplier before ordering.
Who makes Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-50/120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger?
Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-50/120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger is a Victron Energy product, listed under inverters with model reference PMP243021102. The Victron Energy brand page lists the rest of its range so you can compare across the catalogue.
Is Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-50/120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger right for my system?
That depends on what it has to connect to. For an inverter, check maximum PV input and the number of MPPT trackers, which set how many panel strings you can connect, the MPPT voltage window, which decides how many panels go in a string and peak and weighted (European/CEC) efficiency, typically 96–98.5% against the rest of your equipment before price enters the decision. Keep the panel array between roughly 1.0 and 1.3 times the inverter's rating. Slight oversizing (a higher DC-to-AC ratio) captures more energy on cloudy mornings and winter days; going far beyond it wastes generation through clipping.
Where can I buy Victron MultiPlus 24V/3000VA/70A-50/120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger in Canada?
SolarBazaar lists and compares equipment rather than selling it. Use the specifications and price here to shortlist, then buy through an authorised distributor or installer in Canada — buying in-channel is what keeps the manufacturer's warranty valid.
