ACME Solar signs PPA with SECI for 300 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project

ACME Solar has entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corp. of India Ltd (SECI) for the development of a 300 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project. Under the agreement, electricity generated by the project will be supplied at a tariff of INR 3.25 per kWh.

The company announced that its subsidiary, ACME Renewtech Fifth Pvt Ltd, has formally executed the 25-year PPA with Solar Energy Corp. of India Ltd (SECI) for the 300 MW ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project. ACME Renewtech Fifth Pvt Ltd secured the project capacity through SECI’s Hybrid Tranche IX at a tariff of INR 3.25 per unit. According to the company, the tariff has already received approval and adoption from both the Central and State regulators.

Power generation from the project is expected to begin by June 30, 2028.

According to ACME, the hybrid renewable energy facility will be linked to ISTS substations while making use of the transmission connectivity it has already obtained in regions with high solar irradiation and strong wind resources. As specified in the PPA, ACME Solar is required to deliver electricity while maintaining a minimum annual capacity utilization factor (CUF) of 30%.

Following the signing of this agreement, ACME Solar’s portfolio backed by signed PPAs has expanded to 6,870 MW, within its overall contracted renewable energy portfolio of 8,070 MW spanning solar, wind, hybrid, firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE), and energy storage projects. Altogether, the company’s renewable energy portfolio consists of 2,990 MW of contracted capacity that is already operational and 5,080 MW currently under construction, including 3,880 MW supported by executed PPAs. In addition, ACME Solar is developing approximately 3.62 GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity.
